Ships of Glass, Inc. is a small business dedicated to making replicas of ships, from Tall Ships to small sailing craft that feature curved glass sails, which are cut from bottles and glasses. We eagerly accept requests for custom orders.
Ships of Glass was launched as a business in 1994. Customers can provide a full-broadside sail plan or photograph of a favorite vessel. From that image, a line-art drawing is created, and the hull and rigging components are reproduced from that drawing. Using basic stain glass techniques, the parts are assembled and the sails are bent on.
The item that makes this work stand out is the curved glass sails, giving the presentation the look of being close-hauled and underway.
